Shiatsu
Shiatsu is the Japanese form of acupressure and is often called "acupuncture without needles."

Shiatsu is a wonderful alternative for those who are not quite ready for acupuncture. The treatments are deeply relaxing and are especially good for the symptoms of stress and muscular aches and pains.

Shiatsu sessions are one hour in length and, unlike Swedish massage, there are no oils applied to the skin and does not require disrobing. It involves stretching muscles, mobilizing joints, and stimulation of the meridian pathways - the same ones used by acupuncture. The client wears loose fitting cotton clothing for the session, which is given on a traditional futon or massage table.

Mitchell has been practicing Shiatsu for over 25 years. He is currently teaching Shiatsu and Acupuncture at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York. His prior teaching experience was at the Ohashi Institute in New York . As a senior instructor, he taught Advanced and continuing education courses in NY and Europe.

Mitchell is also certified in Traditional Thai Massage through the Watpo Temple in Bangkok, Thailand.
